Thanksgiving in Oregon

We hope you all had a wonderful holiday spent giving thanks to all the blessings in your life. I know we did! Sorry to have been out of touch for a few days, but we just returned home from a weekend spent in Oregon with the parents for the holiday. Our Thanksgiving morning drive up the coast was beautiful with hardly any traffic, a little fog lifting off the redwoods, and a warm sun glinting off the ocean. As we arrived to Gold Beach, a storm had just arrived as well. It was so nice to walk into the warm, cozy, and inviting house on such a cold, rainy, and windy day. My Dad had built a fire in the wood stove and the smells of all the delicious food in the oven filled the house. We spent the afternoon cooking and visiting and ate an early dinner around 4pm. As usual, my Mom cooked an amazing meal that we all greatly enjoyed (even Braedon this year).

A Table with a View!

After dinner, we watched the movie "UP" (very good by the way although a little scary and sad in some parts), sipped on baileys, and enjoyed chocolate pecan and pumpkin pies. It was a perfect night! The rest of the weekend was spent taking beach walks and shopping (Shannon and Mom) and fishing (Nick and Dad). Nick caught a salmon in the Elk River that we cooked and enjoyed on Saturday. With the exception of Thanksgiving day, the weather cleared up and the remainder of the weekend was quite sunny and beautiful.

Braedon had a fun time going for rides in the wheelbarrow with the dogs trailing behind.

We even enjoyed a few sunsets off the back deck.

We had such a great time in Gold Beach and now that we are back in Arcata, we plan on enjoying our leftovers tonight and breaking out the Christmas boxes to start decorating.

Can you believe it is already almost December?
