Our weekends lately have been packed with fun and festive winter activities in celebration of the holidays and this Saturday was no exception. We decided to venture out of Arcata and head down to the Victorian village of Ferndale which is about 45 minutes south of us. Ferndale is a cute little town filled with classic Victorian style homes, an original theatre/playhouse, and lots of cute shops including an old fashioned mercantile. This day in Ferndale was a special one because not only were people dressed in original Victorian fashions, but the town was complete with traveling carolers, horn bands, and plenty of Christmas decorations. We spent the chilly day strolling the streets, listening to the music, and doing a little Christmas shopping. Each store front had a festive window display and a decorated Christmas tree in front. Braedon had so much fun stopping and checking out each one.
One of the stores in Ferndale had a kid's table set up with crayons and coloring books. Braedon sat down and went to town! It's crazy to see how big he's getting!

Carolers and Christmas Band

After spending the good portion of the day at Victorian Christmas, we headed home to get ready for a night at our friends John and Melina's for a cookie, cider, nog, and homemade ornament making party. The guys retired to the living room with the kiddos while the ladies crafted away in the kitchen rolling and cutting out ornaments. What a great evening!

Despite the wintry, cold, frosty days, we are definitely having a lot of fun sharing in the spirit of the holidays with Braedon. We hope you all are doing the same!
